Job Description:
NATO interns have the opportunity to learn from the NATO community and gain a deeper understanding of the organization. Interns are placed in various departments such as political affairs, defense and security, innovation, operations, communications, business support, human resources, finance, science and technology, and infrastructure and facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with practical work assignments in the assigned department.
- Contribute to creating a more diverse workforce at NATO.
- Expand knowledge and understanding of NATO in member countries.
Requirements:
- Be a citizen of a NATO member country.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Have completed at least two years of university and be enrolled in a third year, or have obtained your highest degree less than a year prior to applying.
- Demonstrate proficiency in one of the two official NATO languages: English or French. Knowledge of the second language is considered an asset.
Qualifications:
- Strong academic record.
- Relevant coursework or experience in the desired field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to a dynamic work environment.
Benefits:
- Monthly stipend of EUR 1,217 (as of 2025).
- Prepaid flight or train ticket from place of origin (up to EUR 1,200).
- 15 days of paid leave during the six-month internship period.

- Visits to other institutions like the European Parliament.
How to Apply:
- Apply through the NATO e-recruitment system, TALEO, during the open call from April to May every year.

- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted in May or June for an interview.
- Final selections will be made between July and September.
- Successful candidates will be invited to begin their internships either in March or September of the following year.
