Overview:
Applications for the Summer 2025 programme are now closed. We encourage applications from candidates globally, especially from underrepresented groups. This eight-week internship offers an opportunity to undergraduate students in their third year of study in a quantitative subject, aiming for a first-class degree. Successful applicants will receive a stipend of £350 per week for 8 weeks, along with up to £200 for travel reimbursement to and from the university at the start and end of the internship.
Eligibility:
- Applicants should be in (at least) their third year of undergraduate study in a quantitative subject.
- Must be on track for a first-class degree.
- Supervisor arrangement not required before application, but advantageous to have discussed informally with a prospective supervisor.
- Interns without a supervisor will be allocated one before the internship starts.
Application Deadline:
- Applications must be submitted by the end of 19th January (UK time).
Application Process:
- Complete the application form, including a personal statement detailing academic background and interests.
- Address specific questions in the personal statement, including motivation for undertaking the internship, areas of interest in probability or statistics, academic background relevance, and particular strengths.
- Identification of a potential supervisor is recommended but not mandatory before applying.
Responsibilities:
- Participate actively in the internship programme and contribute to assigned projects.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to achieve project goals.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors to track progress and address any issues.
- Adhere to deadlines and deliver high-quality work within specified timelines.

Key Steps:
- Recommended: Identify a staff member willing to supervise a project over the summer.
- Recommended: Collaborate with the supervisor to develop a project proposal.
- Submit the application form by the deadline on 19th January.
Post-Application:
- Interviews, primarily conducted via Zoom, will be held in the first two weeks of February.
- Applicants will be notified of the outcome by mid-February.
- Successful applicants will commence the internship on 8th July 2025 and conclude on 30th August 2025.
